Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 4, 2026

Your privacy is the whole point of ilove7z. The extractor, compressor and converter use WebAssembly to run a real 7-Zip engine inside your browser. That design removes almost all of the privacy and security concerns that come with traditional "online" file tools.

1. Your files never leave your device

When you extract, compress or convert an archive on ilove7z, the file is read into memory in your browser and processed locally by the 7-Zip engine. Nothing is uploaded to any server. There is no storage of your content, no transmission of your content, and no third party ever sees the bytes you work with.

2. What we do NOT collect

  • We do not upload, store, or log your files.
  • We do not read the contents of any archive.
  • We do not ask for an account or your email to use the tools.
  • We do not place cookies on any tool page.

3. Basic, anonymous usage data

Like most sites, we may rely on privacy-respecting, aggregated statistics to understand roughly how much traffic the site receives (for example, page counts). This data is anonymized and cannot be tied back to a specific file or person.

4. Advertising on guide pages

Our tool pages are free of advertising. Some of our help-and-guide articles may display advertising through third-party networks such as Google AdSense. If so, those third parties may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits. Tool pages never load these ad scripts, and we will not let advertising interfere with your archives.

5. Data retention

Because we do not process or store your files on any server, there is nothing to retain. Any preferences we keep (such as remembering a preferred output format) are stored only in your own browser's local storage and never transmitted.

6. Security

Processing files locally means your archives are not exposed to the network, which is the strongest protection a web tool can offer. The site is served over HTTPS, and our static infrastructure follows security best practices such as sensible HTTP headers.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where reasonable, post a notice.
